Speaking at a Christian Retreat

I was invited to speak at a Christian retreat last weekend. I was also invited to have a booktable. I spoke on the spiritual practice of trusting in God. You can read the speech here. The speech was well received.

One person who had just finished reading Four in the Garden bought five more copies and then gave them away to anyone who promised to read it. He said that the book impacted him tremendously and fostered in him a deeper intimacy with God.

Selling Books at a Christian Conference

Last weekend, I set up a book table at a Christian conference in Portland to sell and sign copies of Four in the Garden. I sold 16 books, which is considered good for a book table. I gave out business cards and bookmarks, and one-page excerpts from the book. The excerpts proved popular and I had to photocopy more after the 50 sheets disappeared. I also conducted a book giveaway as a way to promote the book. Based on the success of the book table, I plan to do it again at more Christian conferences. I made a banner for the event. An image of the banner is below as well as a photo of me sitting at my table.
